Well, another DRYL Queens Pageant is behind us.
The 36th Annual Pageant was A GREAT ONE !!! The weather was perfect, the
clubs showed up in masses to support their Princesses, a new Queen was Crowned
and Committee Head Toni Nespola made it through without giving birth !!
Thank you very much Miss Nespola for ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE !!
We had close to 100 boats pull into the basin of Dave & Busters - which our
Docking Committee handled superbly I must say. It is getting harder and
harder not only trying to fit that many boats into a basin that only holds about
50 boats but when you couple that to each year many of our boaters are getting
bigger boats makes the task a little rougher. Then we have the task of
keeping the clubs together which only makes it tougher... it is not an easy job
at all !! Want to thank Butch Gricco, JR Pyffer and Paul Richardson
for making all the pieces of the puzzle fit.....
This year I only asked for 2 reps from each club for the Honor / Color Guard and
wound up only needing 12 guys. For those that showed up and were not used,
I am sorry but I thank you for showing up in support of your Club and Princess.
For those that were involved, I thank you very much for your efforts .... Harry
Foose ( BYC ) did an excellent job barking orders and Joe Oberlander ( BYC ) and
Al Marlinaro ( RYC ) held our flags high for the entire pageant!!
We had Officers from The CBYCA, The Chesapeake Commodores Club, The Upper Bay
Alliance as well as the Queen of The Chesapeake and 11 Princesses from the Bay!!
A very nice entourage from our friends in the south.
Out Going DRYL Queen Jenna Andrusko gave her farewell speech and presented Mary
& I with a beautiful plaque with a very touching comment and a picture
of the three of us from The Chesapeake Commodores Ball ..... there was not
a dry eye in the auditorium when she finished. Truly a very very wonderful
young lady.
Lets not forget our evening MCs Bob Bocock and Joe Campbell who did another
fabulous job for us.
