Good Morning All! Hope you are all well and like me, waiting for spring !!!!
Mary & I just wanted to thank all those that came out and supported the league last night at The Annual DRYL Banquet. It was a wonderful evening and everyone that I spoke to had an exceptional time. My wife Mary & Colleen Maloney did a great job for us putting the evening together for us and Joe Campbell again, came through for us, not only for doing an excellent job as our MC, but he also helped Mary & Colleen out in any way he could when asked, making the transition for our new Committee Heads job much much easier. We had 20 clubs, 3 organizations, our Queen and 15 Princesses attend this year, and as always, we were over the 200 mark for attendance. Four clubs, QCYC, FSA, HLYC, & NHYC were able to bring 20 or more people to the banquet, not sure what they were promised once they got there but hey, it was just FANTASTIC for those four clubs to bring that many people!!! Food as usual was very tasty, desserts were served to you at the table, and this year we had a coffee and cake table, the drinks were cold and the dance floor was crowded with happy feet dancers. Everything needed for a good time was in place!
We gave out some awards last night ....Person of The Year went to Toni Nespola for her many years as DRYL Pageant Chairperson, her work with the princesses and her 'undying commitment to the league pageant'. Toni had been nominated numerous times over the years but was always overshadowed, NOT OVER LOOKED. And in her very humble way, she accepted it graciously, thanking her supporters and thanking The League for what we did her from the time she was Princess of WYC, to DRYL Queen and now Pageant Chairperson. Toni is truly an asset to the league!
The GST Group awarded The DRYL Club Of The Year to Nehaminy Harbor Yacht Club for their support and camaraderie to the clubs up and down river, and Joe Campbell was given another thank you award for his work on banquets in the past, as well as for his help this year. It was a nice time to see some faces that we have not seen since last summer, get to meet and make some new friends, and hang out with some ol' friends. All in all, it was a great night in February, giving us a little tease of what's to come this upcoming boating season!!!
Let me finish by adding ......Our Officers, Delegates, and Committees Heads all work hard for YOU, ME and the League, volunteering their time & efforts and want / expect nothing in return. They do this for nothing more than a THANK YOU..... so please take this back to your club and post it, but more importantly, remember to thank the members of your club that are Officers, Delegates, and or Committee Heads of The League, because without those people we would be NOTHING!!!! Thank You All!!!!
