What a
GREAT WEEK-END !!
Mary & I
ventured down to the boat on Thursday night (just missing picture taking
admirers of our swim platform from next door).
9:00AM on Friday morning we were out of the slip and at the gas dock
where we pumped some gas into High Hopes at Anchorage Marina – ($4.25 a gallon)
and then headed north to Penn’s Landing (Delaware River Waterfront Corp.
Marina) for a week-end of F’s - Friends, Fireworks, Food and Fun! ( and Libations of
course )
We got their
10:00 or so and were greeted and assisted by Jimmy & Richie ( Dock / Harbor Masters ).
These two guys ALWAYS bend over backwards for us and the group we are
with when visiting Penn’s Landing. You could not find a nicer couple of guys who
you can tell really enjoy their work, and make you not only feel at home, but
make you feel like you are part of their family. Making reservations - calling to make changes
– asking for suggestions on eateries, watering holes, sites to visit – you name
it – if you ask them they have answers and are eager to help. Conversing and helping are what they seem to
do best and enjoy. The golf cart seems
to always be there for a needed ride or lift.
They are also dog / animal lovers as the water bowl and treats are there
for marina patrons pets as well as the dog walkers on
the sea wall walk.
FYI – Big improvements
were done at the basin with dredging, new Beautiful Docks added with 50A and
30A service, WiFi, and clean AC’d
bathrooms. As there is so much to do and see in the city, you can walk, ride
your bike, take a tour bus, visit the great spots to eat and drink – find a
tree to sit under and people watch, visit South Street and with events and
affairs going on all summer long at the Great Plaza – you really have to make
this a stop this summer. Oh yeah … they
have Swan paddle boats and kayak rentals in the basin, and when you couple in
Jimmy & Richie, you have a wonderful place to visit with the family or
friends. It is not too far a boat ride
for all club members, and with gas prices the way they
are – this is a winner, winner chicken dinner place to visit! For making reservations – contact Monica
Santora at 215-928-8801 or by email at marina@delawareriverwaterfrontcorp.com – Also, here is a link to Upcoming Events

Events
By Friday
afternoon, a few boats from NHYC and a few boats from RYC had docked and people
were mingling, relaxing and enjoying the sunny day. When Saturday rolled around, the crowd got
bigger and the marina was full with festive and party people. A week-end of water misting, drinks,
breakfast and dinner buffets, shots and laughter that could be heard throughout
the basin was under way. All week-end
long the passerbyers stopped to view the boats ranging in size from 26 foot to
42 foot and enjoyed the tunes that were being emitted from fly bridges. Saturday night the fireworks were a BLAST ! The sea wall
walk way was locked and the marina patrons had the entire walkway to lounge and
relax on and to view the fireworks and fireworks barge from just beyond our
dock chairs. What a view and what a
show! After the fireworks, the dock
party kicked into overdrive! Here is a
link to this years Fireworks.
I was able
to get pictures of the Friday boat arrivals but Saturday the shots and drinks
started flowing at noon and I forgot how to operate my camera J - heck, I forgot I even had a camera
by 2:20 – LOL
As with all RYC
events - the evening dock fun, music and dancing was supplied by T & A Entertainment - LOL –
T & A has a way to make Saturday night on the dock with them like a club on
South Street.
NHYC Members
who could not get into to Penn’s Landing found their way into Phila. Marine Center for the week-end. Some came over to visit us and as always
Candyce was there with her camera snappin’ away at the madness and antics of
the RYC crew.
The F’s all came into play this week-end with FUN coming in first place!
So, below
are some pictures but let apologize for not getting pictures of their boats –
John & Roe, Bob & Nicole ( Bad Girl ), The Hammers, The Galones, Dave
& Melinda, Dave Beth, Ted Jr. and the John Denning - who BTW was giving
boat rides all week-end long (must be nice to have diesel engines) LOL.
Wherever you
spent the Holiday Week-end, whether on a boat or in a family or friends
backyard, Mary
& I hope you enjoyed it. – God Bless America !
The End …..
‘til next time…
