National
Park B.C. Opening Day
April
25, 2009
What
a wonderful day for not only an Opening Day but for a picnic! National Park BC officially kicked off the Opening
Days for the 2009 Boating Season and what a simply beautiful day it was. With temperatures in the mid 80’s – sunny and
no humidity made for great day to be near the boats and water! The ceremony started with the gracious sounds
of the playing of the bag-pipes coming from the waterfront and the singing of
The National Anthem. Commodore Williams
along with his Officers and Princess Janine Greatrex well greeted and given
well wishes by 9 visiting clubs. Commodore
Carlucci from Westville PBA (who is celebrating their 100th
Anniversary this year) presented National Park with a commemorative burgee
marking their anniversary. Queen Siobhan
again proved the Pageant Judges right with her beauty, grace and presence and
after her words at the mic she sat with the future princesses – which all stared
at her with glowing eyes. After the ceremony
the sunny picnic got into full swing with food hot off the grill and drinks
from the outside Tiki Bar. The roast
pork had everyone going for rolls as it made for a juicy well flavored
sandwich. And let us not forget the
dessert table – nothing beats home-made pleasures made by mom’s recipes from
over the years. Mother nature played
well with us this week-end and we can only hope that she plays nice all summer
long. Commodore Denise Leo stated it
perfectly when she said “ I can think of
no better club to start the 2009 Opening Days ” I could not agree more.
